No swimming? Really?»
These are some awesome warning signs by the fountain in West Side Park. A little unnecessary, since the fountain is not really that large or deep, but hey. These were gone for a while, because they are a popular theft item.
First two pics are recent. These are brand new—replaced just this year—and still intact. Last one is from 2005, the last of the old ones (stolen shortly after this pic).
Also, I feel like this a lot: drowning in two inches of water. Frowning emo-ticon goes here.
Orpheum»
This used to be a downtown movie theater (back when that was a common occurrence). Now it’s the Children’s Science Museum, which is a pretty decent fate for a former downtown movie theater.
This is the back of the building, seen from odd angles.

I only got about 30 minutes’ worth of “golden hour” shots, because it took like half the day (and 50 ads) to get here by bus.
Many questions I am having»
So I’m finally doing another camera dump, since it’s been a couple weeks, and I notice something weird with the file numbers. The last pic I took on November 14 was IMG_3991. Then I didn’t take any pics for almost a week, due to crappy weather and such. The next pic, taken on November 20, was IMG_9012.
Did aliens abduct my camera and take over 5000 pics? Did I go to a really awesome party, and not remember a thing? Did aliens abduct me and take me to the awesome party? Where ARE these 5000 missing pics? A-and what were they of?
ZUH?
I need a title with a Pixies-pun here»
On Thursday I went with a car full of girls to see some Pixies up in Chicago. I was a bit worried at first, because the last time I was at the Aragon it sounded like muffled ass, and I was also wary of reunion shows. But then again, I have loved the Pixies for almost 20 years, and they were playing Doolittle all the way through, a-and the car full of girls…
…and anyway, once they started playing it was all magical and great. They even did all the b-sides! I spent most of the show either grinning like an idiot, fighting back Manly Tears™, or screaming like a girl. The best part was that they were enjoying themselves (I saw them in 1991 when they all kinda hated each other, and it wasn’t the same). The other best part was the whole audience singing along to every song, even the b-sides.
Honorable mention for “best part” goes to the 7 foot tall Eurodude in the tracksuit who was dancing and jumping like he was trying to punch God up in heaven. I think his energy alone brought the band out for the second encore.
Diary of a target market»
I ride the bus every day, AND I am looking for affordable health insurance. If only there was some way to keep informed of affordable health insurance solutions, while riding on the bus. A-and it would be even better if I could be informed every three stops, at maximum volume (because I am deaf and forgetful).
Oh, what kind of magical future world am I dreaming of?
