At my new digs:
This is the first time in a while I felt like digging out the “real” camera. This is also about the extent of my unpacking.
Who works on a Saturday?»
Recently I heard the old smokestack downtown was going to be demolished. On the way home yesterday, I stopped by with my crappy phone camera for a quick pic:
You know, just something to tide me over until I could get my real camera the next morning. SO, the next morning (aka “noon”) I grabbed my real camera and headed downtown, only to see this:
It was barely morning—on a weekend, no less—and they were already done knocking the damn thing over!
Is this a thing?»
Is this a thing? Well, Is it?
I swear I ask that almost as much as people ask “what’s that from?” whenever anyone anywhere says anything clever. (I ask it a lot, is what I’m trying to say.) According to my completely arbitrary rules that I made up on the spot, it takes three to be a meme, or a thing. One more!
Whether I obsess over it and try to find every instance is another question. The answer to that is—hopefully—no. Maybe someone else will do it for me, like with the Downtown Smiler.
(Protip: look on utility boxes.)
Let me stand next to your fire»
So, the other night, when everyone in Illinois was failing to get a pic of the supermoon, I got the chance to take some bonfire pics as a consolation prize.
That’s really super, supermoon»
So after all the hype and preparation—I downloaded Google Sky Map, a detailed moon phase app, and quickly relearned how to use my camera—the “supermoon” was finally upon us. At my secure, undisclosed location out in the sticks, I set up my tripod and did some test shots. I checked the aforementioned apps several times, to make sure I was actually pointed in the right direction and that a supermoon was actually rising, and then I got…
This.
It wasn’t until today, when I finally copied my pics over, and “enhanced” them, that I actually got to see this fabled supermoon. Let’s ENHANCE! »
Better bouncing of that»
So I got my one of these, and took a few pics, then forgot about them.
