So after all the hype and preparation—I downloaded Google Sky Map, a detailed moon phase app, and quickly relearned how to use my camera—the “supermoon” was finally upon us. At my secure, undisclosed location out in the sticks, I set up my tripod and did some test shots. I checked the aforementioned apps several times, to make sure I was actually pointed in the right direction and that a supermoon was actually rising, and then I got…

It wasn’t until today, when I finally copied my pics over, and “enhanced” them, that I actually got to see this fabled supermoon. Let’s ENHANCE! »
The first day in months that don’t have my real camera on me, and that’s when I finally see something interesting.

OK, not that interesting, but still.
I really don’t want to be forever known as “the guy who takes pictures of clouds”, but [see title of post]:


Not pictured: the FLIPPIN’ SWEET view I got five minutes later—the moon was right behind a cloud, giving the cloud’s edge an eerie silver glow. By the time I got my damn camera out, the moon was no longer hidden, and the picture I did get was blurry anyway.

One advantage of working late, maybe? I saw that up above when I finally left. By the time I got home it was considerably uglier, and for once the black cloud hanging over me wasn’t just in my Mind…
